These are 1ST GRADE STICKS
1ST GRADE means the wood is of higher quality, less knots for more consistent burning. It tends to be more seasoned than 2nd and 3rd Graded woods, which may have too much moisture in them to smoulder or ignite properly. Unseasoned wood tends to be heavier, because of the moisture.
(If our sticks you recieve are too large for your liking, you can always cut them with a sharp heavy knife or kitchen cleaver for example or a stanley knife. But please, please be very careful if you do this). 
We sell by dry weight and not number of sticks. So please be careful when buying online e.g. if someone advertises 25g = 8, 9, 10, 12 sticks. They will be matchstick sized Palo Santo.
 
Palo Santo literally means "Holy Wood" and is, just as white sage, originated from the native Indians in South America. Sustainably wild harvested. Palo Santo “Holy Wood” is one of the most important trees used by the Incas and indigenous people of the Andes as a spiritual remedy for purifying and cleansing. Centuries ago they already used it during ceremonies to clear the aura and to heal from negative influences. 
 
In Europe too, people choose to buy the holy wood to clean their houses or just for the fragrances in its purest form. 
The fragrance can be described as a warm, wooden and lightly aroma with a sweet touch that sometimes slips through. In comparison with white sage (that is also used for the same purpose), Palo Santo SOMETIMES gives off a very mild but not unpleasant odor.
 
The Palo Santo tree belongs to the same family (Burseraceae) as frankincense and myrrh.
These Palo Santo sticks can be used as a 100% natural incense burning them in a charcoal container with a piece of charcoal. Palo Santo sticks do produce lots of wonderfully scented smoke which is suitable for spiritual and religious activities such as spiritual healing.
 
Most people light Palo Santo as you would a smudge bundle of sage. And smudge your whole house to get rid of uwanted energies.
